' PHASE VI SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION Site Code 2163 <br /> Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center <br /> 5400 Pacific Avenue,Stockton,CA <br />' 4.0 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS <br />' 41 SOIL <br /> The subsurface conditions encountered in the soil borings are shown on the boring logs (see <br /> Appendix A) Based on boring log Information, geologic cross sections were constructed (see <br /> Figures 3, 4, and 5) The following is a generalized summary of the soil stratigraphy <br /> encountered <br />' The native soils encountered in the borings drilled at the Site are predominantly dark brown silts <br /> and clayey silts to depths ranging from approximately 30 feet bgs in the area south of the auto <br />' service center building (I c , in the area of wells MW-1 and MW-6) to 40 feet bgs in the area of <br /> the former fueling Islands These silts are moderately moist, dense, and contain trace sand <br /> Interbeds of silty and clayey sands, silts, and clays are then encountered to the termination depth <br /> all borings/wells except MW-3, MW-4, and MW-5 In these three borings, clayey and silty <br />' sands are present to the termination depth of the borings The clayey sands are greenish gray, <br /> contain fine sand and trace mica, and are saturated and moderately dense <br />' Ground water was encountered at depths of approximately 50 feet bgs in the on-site wells <br /> 5.0 ANALYTICAL TESTING <br /> All samples were delivered for analytical testing to BC Analytical, Inc (BCA), a California state <br />' certified hazardous waste testing laboratory (Certificate #1353) BCA is certified for all testing <br /> completed as part of this investigation <br /> 5 1 SOIL SAMPLES/BLANKS <br /> Soil samples were tested for TPH-G using modified EPA Method 8015 and BTEX using EPA <br /> Method 8020 Selected soil samples (between 44 and 50 5 feet bgs) from the borings were also <br />' analyzed for purgeable halocarbons (HVOCs) using EPA Method 8010 The trip and equipment <br /> blanks were tested TPH-G, BTEX, and HVOCs using the above test methods The results of the <br /> testing are shown on Table 8 The laboratory reports are contained in Appendix F <br /> 52 GROUND WATER SAMPLES <br />' Table 6 contains the analytical testing results of ground water samples obtained on February 8, <br /> 1995 (see EAI, 1995B for specifics) <br />' Project No 1232 7 ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT, INC <br />
