' PHASE VI SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION Site Code 2163 <br /> Montgomery Ward Auto Service Center <br /> 5400 Pacific Avenue Stockton, CA <br /> was steam cleaned prior to use and between each well to prevent cross-contamination <br /> Approximately ninety gallons of water were removed from each well during development <br /> 3 3 GROUND WATER SAMPLING <br /> Pursuant to approval from the County (Mr Michael Infurna), the Initial sampling of wells MW-3 <br /> through MW-6 was completed as part of the first quarter 1995 ground water monitoring <br /> I activities Well purging and sampling information of wells MW-3 through MW-6 is contained <br /> in the EAI, 1995B report <br />' 34 SAMPLING EQUIPMENT CLEANING PROTOCOL <br /> All augers were steam cleaned prior to the drilling of each boring The drive sampler was <br /> disassembled and decontaminated prior to each sampling by the following procedure <br /> - All excess soil was scraped off the sampler parts, <br />' - The sampler was washed in a solution of Alconox detergent and tap water, and <br /> - The sampler was rinsed with tap water and then distilled water <br /> I The steel bailer (Equipment), used only to purge and develop the wells prior to sampling, <br /> was steam cleaned between each event as part of the decontamination procedures <br /> 3 5 EFFLUENT HANDLING <br /> All effluent generated during assessment activities was sealed in labeled 55-gallon Department <br /> of Transportation (D O T ) approved drums The drums were stored on-site, pending the results <br /> of the analytical testing, at which time the appropriate disposal method was determined <br /> 36 QUALITY ASSURANCE/QUALITY CONTROL <br />' In addition to the quality assurance and quality control procedures previously described herein, <br /> two types of blanks, trip and equipment, were included in the investigation A trip blank (MW- <br /> 420) was prepared on the day of sampling by filling one 40-m1 VOA vial with purged deionized <br /> water The equipment blank (MW-520) was obtained after decontaminating the drive sampler <br /> (see Section 3 4) by filling the drive sampler with deionized water and transferring the water to <br /> two 40-m1 VOA vials The blanks were handled in a manner identical to the samples collected <br /> in the field The laboratory were not Informed that these samples were blanks <br /> 3 7 MONITORING WELL SURVEY <br />' Kier and Wright Civil Engineers and Surveyors, Inc (K & W), California licensed land <br /> surveyors, were retained by Montgomery Ward to survey the locations for wells MW-3 through <br /> iv1W-6 anu to ueterrrilnC Lit "top of Gasulg" elevations reiauve to mean sea level This surveying <br /> was conducted on February 5, 1995 and was correlated to the other Montgomery Ward wells and <br /> those on the Unocal site, which were also previously surveyed by K & W The elevation of all <br /> the wells were surveyed to the City of Stockton Benchmark No 14 (elevation = 10 95 feet Mean <br /> Sea Level), located on the east side of Pacific Avenue at the approximate center line of Yokuts <br /> Road (See Appendix E) <br />' Project No 1232 6 ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT, INC <br />
