Site Health&Safety Plan 1 <br /> Cargill,Inc.,Port Road No.8 <br /> Stockton,California <br /> Sierra-Pacific Project No.95-128.02 <br /> 6.0 TOB HAZARD SUMMARY <br /> There are potential hazards associated with the work to be completed at the Cargill Stockton 1 <br /> facility and they include: <br /> • Chemical Hazards; <br /> • ' Physical Hazards; <br /> thermal stress, <br /> fire and explosion, <br /> electrical hazards, and <br /> • General Safety Hazards. <br /> Each of the foregoing hazards are discussed in detail below. Even though the concentrations J <br /> of pesticide and fuel constituents are not expected to be present, Sierra-Pacific personnel will <br /> plan for their presence in the working environment during all phases of work on this site. <br /> 6.1 Chemical Hazards <br /> Toxic substances can enter the body through inhalation, ingestion, or skin absorption. They can <br /> enter by more than one route, cause damage at the point of entry, and cause organ damage <br /> after being metabolized. The most likely toxic substances to be encountered at the Stockton 1 <br /> site are nitrates and metal compounds. Table 1 lists the contaminants and their respective <br /> exposure levels. Pesticide products are not expected to be present at the site. 1 <br /> If pesticides were to be encountered during the soil sampling operations, an individual that has <br /> been poisoned by pesticides may exhibit symptoms similar to: <br /> Groundwater Consultants Inc. <br /> Sierra-PacificG 10 <br />
