Other <br /> equipment deemed necessary by the SSO prior to work initiation shall be obtained at his <br /> direction. The SSO shall also ensure that these instruments are used only by persons who have } <br /> had prior experience with their care, calibration, and operations and who know their limitations. J <br /> No work shall be done unless this instrumentation is available and in proper working order. <br /> Due to the low population density of the sites,low levels of known contaminants, and minimal <br /> ground disturbance associated with the soil sampling , community monitoring is not necessary <br /> or practical <br /> 9.1 Direct Reading Instruments <br /> Preliminary air monitoring will be performed during the initial phases of the project. Direct- <br /> reading monitoring equipment will include the use of Ammonia Drdger Tubes. This monitoring <br /> equipment should be used in accordance with following: <br /> Equipment: Ammonia Drager Tubes and Pump <br /> Location(s) of Use: Within immediate work area <br /> When to Use: During work <br /> Action Level: 50 ppm <br /> Action: Upgrade personal protection to Level C when Drdger readings exceed 100 <br /> ppm in breathing zone of site workers.
