Work Plan
Facility Demolition and Soil Excavation
„r Stockton,California
Sierra-Pacific Project No.95-128.06
items will be placed in steel roll-off containers. Large pieces of plate and pipe will be stacked away
from work areas in a safe manner. Stainless steel items will be inventoried and staged separately.
Debris and waste materials will be placed in separate containers. The contractor will transport all
staged metal to a salvage yard or landfill. Certificates of destruction are requested for all tanks
dismantled off-site.
rl
3.5 Excavation, Reduction, and Removal_ of Concrete and Asphaffic Pavement
V
Concrete foundations and structures will be excavated, and removed for immediate disposal. Steel
reinforcement bars and components will be separated from broken concrete where possible (concrete
recyclers prefer not to run steel through their compactors, crushers, and screens). Asphaltic concrete
will be staged separately for disposal. Some concrete driveways will not be demolished until next
V
summer.
3.6 Excavation and Removal of Feed Product-Stained Soil
The proposed excavation work will be done by a licensed contractor with oversight by Sierra-Pacific.
Excavation areas were determined based on the results from Sierra-Pacific's soil investigation
program (See May 29, 1996 - Sierra-Pacific Results of Soils Investigation Report) and the
identification of visual staining. Figure 3 presents the areas of soil contamination based on available
information, where Sierra-Pacific believes that total nitrogen (N) concentrations exceed 200 mg/kg
(ppm). The excavated soil will be staged for agronomic application in an open area at the northeast
comer of the property. Product-stained soils will be blended for consistency and applied to
agricultural fields in accordance with approved crop application rates. Some excavated materials may
1
not be suitable for agronomic application and will be disposed at an appropriate landfill.
Product-stained soils will be excavated from designated areas to a maximum depth of 48 inches below
ground surface (bgs). Excavations adjacent to heavy structures and foundations will be offset
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. 6
