1
' 2 SITE DESCRIPTION
' According to the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment conducted by WGR Southwest, Inc.
(WGR, 2008) the Site is approximately 13.1 acres and is located within the East Complex of the
Port of Stockton in San Joaquin County, California. The Site is northeast of the intersection of
' Navy Drive and the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. This east-west trending railroad is
on top of a raised levee approximately 100 ft south of the Site (WGR, 2008). The South Ditch is
located between the south edge of the site and the railroad line. This South Ditch directs storm
' water from the entire Port Complex to a retention pond located west of the Site, across Navy
Drive.
tFencing surrounds the Site and defines the irregularly shaped property boundary. The office
building (including a warehouse) and scale are located at the northwest portion of the Site near
the entrance. The former structures and features present on-Site during operation included: a
' rail scale located on the rail line bisecting the eastern portion of the Site; an oil storage area, an
equipment wash down area and a maintenance shop located in the center of the Site; a
' welding shop located at the southwest corner of the Site; and a PG&E owned electrical
substation located along the southern property boundary. Several stockpiles of scrap material
were located throughout the Site consisting of various types of steel, unprepared iron, motor
' blocks, light iron/tin, or bundles of processed metal.
The present configuration of the Site and locations of the features are shown on Figure 2.
1
2 M/LLER BROOKS
1
