V
1.0 INTRODUCTION
On behalf of Olympian JV,Conestoga-Rovers &Associates, Inc. (CRA)has prepared this
Well Destruction Work Plan for the Jimco Truck Plaza facility (site) located 1022 Frontage
Road in Ripon, California. As a condition for environmental case closure, the remaining
groundwater monitoring and extraction wells at the site must be properly destroyed
according to agency guidelines. Presented below are the site background and the
proposed scope of work.
2.0 SITE BACKGROUND
2.1 SITE DESCRIPTION
The site is located at 1022 Frontage Road (formerly 22502 South Highway 99) in Ripon,
California (Figure 1). The site is at an elevation of approximately 58 feet above mean
sea level (ft amsl) with generally flat topography. It operates as a truck service station
with several structural improvements. Along the northern property boundary are
several contiguous buildings that facilitate the operation of several retail businesses
including a convenience store, a restaurant, a coin-operated laundry facility, an office
building, and a warehouse that contains several diesel truck repair shops. A separate
structure near the southern boundary of the site accommodates a truck wash and truck
service bay. Other site improvements include 10 fuel dispensers, one split 8,000-gallon
and 12,000-gallon gasoline underground storage tank (UST), diesel pump station,
four 30,000-gallon diesel aboveground storage tanks (ASTs), propane tank, and truck
scale. A site plan showing the general layout and relative locations of site features is
included in Figure 2.
2.2 GEOLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY
i
The site is located within the San Joaquin Valley Groundwater Basin (Basin No. 5-22).
The Modesto, Riverbank, and Turlock'Formations, as well as Recent Alluvium are the
primary sources of groundwater production within the San Joaquin Valley
Groundwater Basin.
Soils encountered during previous investigations consist primarily of interbedded sand,
silty sand, sandy silt, silt, and clay to a total explored depth of 100 feet. Previous
investigations have encountered groundwater generally within a silty sand at
161556(13) ('ONF3TOrA-RnvFRR P.ARR(ICIATFR
