The report presents the new conceptual site model,
discusses the changes in demographics and the quality of ground water/surface water
external to DDJC-Sharpe. The Response Completion Plan also discusses proposed
modifications to the current remedy in order to achieve the remedial goals more cost
effectively and will less environmental liability considering the more stringent regulatory
discharge standards. DTSC has reviewed the report and has the following comments:
Comments:
1.) Page 2-12, section 2.2.3.1, Volatile Organic Compound Sources, second to last
sentence; This sentence states "TCE concentrations in ground water at depths
of 90 to 140 feet bgs, near site P-5A have increased since 1999, suggesting that
a continuing source of TCE may be present in soil at or below the water table in
the area." This site would appear to be a likely candidate for the future In-Situ
Chemical Oxidation Pilot study to evaluate alternative technologies. Please
incorporate language in the report to state something to this effect.
2.) Page 2-15, Conclusions Regarding Resource Management, last bullet; Please
indicate in the report whether the City of Lathrop will have enough water to meet
DDJC-Sharpe's demands in the summer months. Once verification of water
supply/demand is confirmed, please provide a timeline for base hookup to the
City of Lathrop's water supply under the Potable Well User Connections section
of the DDJC-Sharpe Operable Unit (OU-1) Response Completion Road Map.
® Printed on Recycled Paper
