The existing North and South Balloon Area
extraction and treatment systems are interim measures and as such, do not
adequately capture and treat all of the ground water contaminated with VOCs
exceeding the Primary Maximum Contaminant Levels (MCLS) . The site-wi a ROD
for ground water should memorialize all those remedial actions nee( ed to
cleanup the aquifer.
3. Numerical aquifer cleanup levels for all of the constituents of concern
should be stated in the Proposed Plan. In addition, the aquifer c eanup
level is different than the performance or treatment standards i .e. ,
effluent limits) for the treatment and disposal of the contaminated round
water. Depending on the method of disposal , some constituents ma need
treatment prior to discharge of the effluent, in order to protect all of
the beneficial uses of the receiving waters.
Ifpp you have any questions, please call me at (916)361-5670.
CAMILLA WILLIAMS
Engineering Geologist
CKW:cw
cc: Mr. John Hamill , U.
