Oxidation Pond Conversion -3- 18 December 1990
Sharpe Site
Pond capacity, but that the expansion may be limited due to the available funding from
the Defense Logistics Agency.
DHS indicated that the pond conversion does not appear to need to be an operable unit
under the Remedial Investigation / Feasibility Study for this Superfund site because
of the lack of TCE found in the pond subsoils, and therefore will probably defer
regulatory overview of the conversion to the Regional Board. However, the DHS Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) unit must be consulted to determine whether there
are specific requirements under RCRA for the pond conversion.
Sharpe will send copies of The Mark Group's report to the DHS and the Environmental
Protection Agency. The due date for comments on the report will be set for 11 January
1991 . The COE tentatively plans to collect the soil borings samples for soluble
analyses in January 1991 . The final report from The Mark Group is to include these
analytical results and is tentatively scheduled to be sent out by the end of January
1991 .
CKW:cw
