Antonia Vorster -9- 25 August 1989
h. Vertical placement of the purge pump in deeper monitoring wells is of
primary importance, especially when followed by bailing for samples.
Vertical ump location should be added to the Well Sampling Date Form
(page 5-9.
In conclusion, most of the above comments pertain to issues that have been
brought to USATHMA and Hunter/ESE' s attention before. Many of the issues are
very basic in nature and are, thus, central to completing an adequate RI. Note
that most of the issues discussed above are not technical disagreemen s on
procedures (though those do exist) , but are failures to accomplish basic needs
and objectives of a Remedial Investigation. This lack of response on USAT MA's,
and more so on Hunter/ESE's, part leads to a significant waste of time and money.
Furthermore, Hunter/ESE's failure to grasp some basic concepts inherent in every
investigation makes me question the project staff' s abilities.
GAR:ej
