Schedule for Testing and Maintaining Safety and Emergency Equipment <br /> Sharpe tests and maintains the emergency and safety equipment on a weekly <br /> schedule. The data sheet used for these inspections is shown in Table VII-1. <br /> D. Security Measures Used at the Facility <br /> The access control measures and warning signs for the Sharpe complex <br /> hazardous waste storage buildings are described in this subsection. <br /> 1. Access Control Measures <br /> Sharpe is entirely secured by fencing and entry is monitored by security <br /> guards. During normal working hours at least one person is assigned to the <br /> hazardous storage area. During off-duty hours the security guards patrol this <br /> area regularly. In addition, buildings 530 and 605 are locked all the time <br /> except when containers are being placed inside the buildings or being <br /> removed. <br /> 2. Warning Signs <br /> Both building 605 and 530 have warning signs which are legible from a <br /> distance of 25 feet. These signs are in English and Spanish and read, <br /> "Caution--Hazardous Waste Area--Unauthorized Persons Keep Out." <br /> E. Artificial Lighting <br /> The type and location of artificial lighting provided for the Hazardous <br /> Waste Storage facilities are described in this subsection. <br /> 1. Type <br /> The lighting is provided by explosion-proof mercury vapor fixtures. The <br /> power is supplied to these fixtures by wiring enclosed in an explosion-proof <br /> conduit. <br /> 2.
