VII . FACILITY EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES
A. The waste materials handled at buildings 530 and 605 are liquids in
containers, non-liquid solids in containers, or packaged unit and gases in
containment vessels. No bulk material handling is required.
B. The preferred handling method is consolidation of drums and other
containers on pallets which are then moved by forklift. The containerized
material is received from the Sharpe point of generation by depot truck or
yard trailer and off loaded by forklift. After identification, repacking if
necessary, and labeling the pallets at building 605 are moved by forklift to
the appropriate pallet rack in storage building bermed containment bay;
reference Figure VI-4.
The forklifts are equipped with roll cages, back-up warning devices,
lights, and spark arrester if appropriate. The typical forklift is DY-rated
with a 4,000 pound lift rating, assuring adequate capacity for the pallet
load. The building yard area is graded compacted soil with hard surface
aprons and ramps at the building entry ways. Translucent panel in the roof
of 605 provides additional daytime natural light to the artificial lighting;
reference paragraph E.
C.
