The report evaluates the implementation and performance of the
selected remedies and will help to determine whether remedial response actions at the
facility are protective of human health and the environment. In addition, the report also
discusses ways to optimize the remedies in order to help maintain protection for human
health and the environment. The DTSC has the following comments:
General Comments:
Indoor Air Pollution from TCE Plume
1.) At the last Remedial Project Managers (RPM) meeting on February 12, 2003,
Waterways Experimental Station (WES) modelers presented modeling results
showing incomplete capture of the Trichloroethene (TCE) plume in the
Central Area (CA) of DDJC-Sharpe. Specifically, the modeling showed
incomplete hydraulic containment of the TCE contaminated aquifer between
Extraction Well (EW)CC3 and EWCC4, thus allowing the core of the TCE
plume to continue to migrate offsite towards the residential development west
of DDJC-Sharpe. In order to contain and effectively remediate the existing
TCE plume, modeling results indicate a need to restart EWCAB1 and install
an additional EW in the C-zone pumping at 60 gallons per minute between
The energy challenge racing California is real.
