Remedial Design -2- 5 March 1993
DDRW, Sharpe
install a portion of the RA that may ultimately be needed more for additional
remedial investigation of the waste management units (WMUs) .
However, we acknowledge that AEC is planning to address our known concerns with the
extraction system design. On 4 March 1993, Mr. Craig MacPhee of AEC spoke with
Mr. James Taylor and assured us that pilot holes will be installed and that the logs
will be given to the agencies for approval of extraction well screen lengths.
Therefore, we do not intend to prevent AEC from installing the extraction system for
the Central Area. However, we request that the design of the extraction and
injection systems be discussed as field work progresses and at the next Project
Manager's Meeting tentatively scheduled for the week of 15 March 1993. We believe
that this Meeting is the best forum for AEC to provide us the assurance that the
systems will be designed for maximum efficiency.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916)255-3069 or Mr. James Taylor at
(916)255-3065.
n
CAMILLA WILLIAMS
Engineering Geologist
CKW:cw
cc: Mr. Craig MacPhee, U.
