Mr. Marshall Cloud
March 22, 2007
Page 4
Inspection Report for DDJC-Sharpe and submit the report as Appendix B of
the Final 2006 Annual Progress Report to fulfill the Installation Master Plan
and IC requirements.
13.) Figure 3.2-5, TCE Comparison Map; According to the figure, there are no
TCE concentrations in ground water greater than 500 ppb at DDJC-Sharpe.
This contradicts the data from the Hydropunch samples from Site P-5A which
identified TCE in ground water at 1,350 ppb in the Central Area A-zone
aquifer. The figure should have a note stating that the 2006 map doesn't
account for the recent ground water investigations at Site P-5A.
14.) Figure 3.2-11; The lower 5 ppb isopleth near MW445 and MW497CD
does not show the additional analytical data verifying the isopleths location.
Please add the necessary analytical data to confirm the isopleth placement or
remove the isopleth from the figure if no additional data exists.
15.) Figure 3.2-12; The TCE isopleth surrounding MW437 needs to be revised
due to the 50 ppb isopleth running directly through the wells screen which
produced TCE concentrations of slightly over 1 ppb.
16.) Figure 3.2-12; The 5 ppb isopleth surrounding MW509, EWCC3 needs to
be redrawn around P10C to capture the 3Q05 concentration of 28 ppb.
17.) Figure 3.2-14; The time series plots for MW445C located in the South
Balloon show a significant increasing trend for PCE. The increasing PCE
trends for the MW445 cluster should be discussed in the section 3.2.4.9 of
the final report.
18.) Figure 3.2-17; Both the 0.5 and 5ppb isopleths need to be identified for
the wells on the D-D' cross-section from MW413 onward towards the
northwest.
19.) Page 4-3, section 4.2.7, sixth sentence; Please indicate in the final report
how the metric of a 40% reduction in present worth and operational costs of
the treatment systems was determined to indicate a successful optimization
effort.
