Page ES-2, second paragraph; The report states that "Natural attenuation is <br /> apparently occurring down-gradient from extraction wells." This is followed by <br /> "Collection of additional data from monitoring wells within the migration paths of <br /> the contaminant plumes is expected to confirm plume containment by natural <br /> attenuation." The first statement is misleading, making the reader believe that <br /> the natural attenuation mechanisms are present for these plumes when in reality <br /> data are still being collected to confirm this hypothesis. DTSC recommends that <br /> the first statement is modified to read "Natural attenuation is believed to be <br /> occurring down-gradient of the extraction wells, with fieldwork planned to confirm <br /> whether these mechanisms exist." <br /> 2.
