Ripon Unified School District
Prevention Systems 40 CFR 112.7(c)
The following means have been evaluated for the containment or diversion of a potential
discharge. At a minimum, one of the following prevention systems or its equivalence must be used.
For onshore facilities:
a. Dikes, berms, retaining wall, containment area sufficiently impervious to
contain the product(40 CFR 112.7 (c)(1)(i))
b. Curbing (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(ii))
c. Culverts, gutters and other drainage systems (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(iii))
d. Weirs, booms or other barriers (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(iv))
e. Spill diversion ponds (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(v))
f. Retention ponds (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(vi))
g. Absorbent materials (40 CFR 112.7(c)(1)(vii))
The facility makes use of double wall concrete and steel fuel tanks securely located and
anchored on a concrete surface containment system. The facility is inspected monthly for visible
signs of troubles. Inspections of the oil product containment and control systems are recorded in
the SPCC Plan on page 32. Absorbent materials are on site and readily available for use. All liquids
will be checked and verification that no oil sheen is present prior to removing any liquid from the
containment areas.
The #2 Diesel fuel product tank on site is constructed of concrete and steel and that is a
suitable containment for oil products. No fuel product leak is expected from these tanks and if a
failure of the tank were to occur, the discharge will be contained, controlled, and mitigated. The
area where the delivery truck parks is located next to the concrete containment area. Any discharge
or spill that cannot be contained will flow southeast and be contained on site. The Gasoline tank
loading area is contained within the fenced containment area. The delivery hose is connected to
the top of the Gasoline tank and all transfers of Gasoline are conducted inside fuel containment
structure. The inspection are recorded in the SPCC Plan. The containment area in the yard has the
topography that will contain discharged oil products until clean-up can occur. No spill or release
is capable of reaching navigable water ways.
In the event that oil products are discharged, the liquids will be properly disposed of, as
needed. Any discharge or spill will be monitored by Ripon Unified School District's management
to ensure that safety is addressed and that all waste is contained, transported, and disposed of in a
proper manner.
Any and all discharges of oil products will be reported to the Regional Authority(RA) San
Joaquin County Public Health Services Division at 209 468-3420.
—V C-,-!-\,, keev&s,
23
