1 <br /> 3.3.7 Decontamination Procedures <br /> Decontamination will be required for all soil gas, drilling, and sampling equipment, personal <br /> protective gear, and field monitoring equipment used during the field work Soil gas probes will be <br /> ' decontaminated between each sample Drilling equipment will be decontaminated between each <br /> boring Sampling equipment will be decontaminated between each sample Personnel will perform <br /> ' decontamination prior to leaving the site area, if necessary, and field monitoring equipment will be <br /> cleaned daily unless contamination impacts operation and requires additional cleaning <br /> Decontamination procedures are based on guidelines appropriate for low-level contamination <br /> Liquinox cleaning solution and detonized water rinses will be used Decontamination procedures for <br /> ' specific equipment used in the field investigation are described in the remainder of this section <br /> ' Soil Gas Sampling and Drilling Equipment <br /> Soil gas sampling and drilling equipment will be decontaminated at a designated location at <br /> the site Decontamination will be performed before drilling operations begin and between borings <br /> i Decontamination will also be performed at the completion of field sampling and drilling activities <br /> ' The drilling subcontractor will provide a steam cleaner for decontamination The Navy will <br /> provide water for the steam cleaner and drilling equipment rinsing activities Drilling augers, bits, <br /> drill pipes, hand augers, and other equipment will be decontaminated prior to use at each soil boring <br /> ' Monitoring well casing, screens, and fittings will be steam cleaned on site prior to installation in the <br /> borehole <br /> Decontamination will be achieved by hosing down the equipment with a high-pressure steam <br /> tspray If equipment still exhibits soils after spraying, a wire brush will be used to loosen particles, <br /> and then the equipment will be rinsed again with a steam spray All waste water from <br /> ' decontamination will be containerized in 55-gallon drums provided by the subcontractor, and disposed <br /> of in accordance with applicable county, state and federal regulations <br /> SAMPLAN 162 <br /> O"-0162UrATRi-05MM 21 <br />
