' • Before raising the drilling rig mast in the vicinity of electrical power lines, the operator <br /> shall walk completely around the drill rig to determine the distance of the rig to the <br /> nearest power line when the mast is raised <br /> • Voltage greater than 550 kilovolts will require a minimum distance of 45 feet Any <br /> ' question regarding appropriateness of a drilling location will be brought to the attention of <br /> the HSPM <br /> ' • Before drilling, the location must be adequately cleaned and leveled to accommodate the <br /> drill rig <br /> ' • Pipes, casings, augers, and similar drilling tools will be arranged to prevent roiling, <br /> spreading, or sliding by using chocks <br /> • Work areas and drilling platforms will be kept free of materials, obstructions, and <br /> ' substances that could cause a surface to become slick or otherwise hazardous <br /> • Before raising the mast, all drill rig personnel and field staff, with the exception of the <br /> ' operator, will be cleared from the area immediately to the rear and the sides of the mast <br /> All drill rig personnel and other field team members must be informed that the mast is <br /> being raised prior to raising it <br /> ' • Augers will be used in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended methods for <br /> securing the auger to the power coupling Additionally, the operation and tool handler <br /> will be responsible for establishing safe procedures for drilling, auger connection and <br /> disconnection, and auger insertion and removal <br /> • Augers will only be cleaned when the drilling mechanism is in neutral and the auger has <br /> ceased to rotate <br /> ' • Unattended boreholes will be properly covered or otherwise protected <br /> PRC employees and Navy personnel observing drilling activities will be aware of the physical <br /> ' hazards associated with drilling and the safe operating procedures they should use <br /> ' • At a minimum individuals will wear coveralls, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hard <br /> hats <br /> ' • Hearing protection will be used when conditions prevent normal vocal discussion between <br /> two individuals at arms-length distance <br /> ' • Those observing drilling activities will keep verbal contact with drillers to a minimum <br /> • Individuals will not enter the drilling area unless given approval by the driller This will <br /> ' ensure that the drillers are aware of your movements <br /> CVOt62 HSP <br /> 04"iQ frATIU-0sro5/93 9 <br />
