GEOMATRIX
Mr. Philip Isorena
California Regional Water Quality Control Board
September 14, 2000
Page 8
marginally affected groundwater. In Item G above, Mr. Isorena concurred that it is
unlikely the site affects any existing water supply wells.
M. The risk assessment did not include an ecological component. For example, crude oil can
seep out of the ground and pose a hazard to wildlife, especially birds (this has occurred at
similar sites).
As previously discussed, crude oil is not seeping out of the ground at this site. Therefore,
there is no pathway for exposure to wildlife. For completeness, Geomatrix will include a
discussion of ecological considerations in the final closure request.
Summary
In summary, comments A, F, G, J,K, and L are addressed herein and require no further
response. Comments B, C, D, E, H, I, and M will be addressed in the final closure request for
the site. We anticipate that the final closure request will be submitted in November 2000
following collection of the additional groundwater data requested by the RWQCB (Item C).
Thank you for your consideration.
