2.5 Laboratory Analyses
All soil and groundwater samples selected for laboratory analyses will be submitted under
standard ETG chain-of-custody (COC) protocol to TOC's contract laboratory, Pace
Analytical Laboratories, Inc. (PACE) of Seattle, Washington, for analyses. All laboratory
analyses will be reported on a standard(approximate 2-week)turnaround basis.
2.5.1 Soil Analyses
Soil samples submitted for laboratory analysis collected from both direct-push and
hollow-stem auger borings, as well as investigation derived waste (IDW) soils, will be
analyzed for TPH-g and TPH-d by USEPA Method 801513; benzene, toluene,
ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), and oxygenates methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE),
tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), diisopropyl ether (DIPE), tert-amyl methyl ether (TAME),
tert-butyl ethyl ether (TBEE) by USEPA Method 8260B. Soil samples with reported
TPH-d concentrations over 1,000 micrograms per kilogram (mg/kg) will also be analyzed
for PAHs by USEPA Method 8270 SIM.
Soil samples collected at 0.5 to 1 foot bgs from the twenty-five (25)borings located in the
tank farm area to assess lead in soils will be analyzed for total lead by USEPA Method
6010.
2.5.2 Groundwater Analyses
All groundwater and IDW water samples will be analyzed for TPH-g and TPH-d by
USEPA Method 801513; BTEX, ethanol, PAHs by USEPA Method 8270 SIM, and
oxygenates MTBE, TBA, DIPE, TAME,TBEE by USEPA Method 8260B.
2.6 Investigation Derived Waste
Investigation derived wastes (IDW) generated during field activities are anticipated to
include soil cuttings from the hand auger/direct-push and hollow-stem auger borings,
monitoring well development water, monitoring well purge water, and equipment
decontamination water. Each IDW waste stream is discussed in the following sections.
2.6.1 Direct-Push and Hollow-Stem Auger Soil Cuttings
Soil cuttings generated during hand auger/direct-push and hollow-stem auger drilling
activities will either be placed in DOT approved IA2 55-gallon steel drums or stockpiled
in an on-site roll-off bin. Each container will be labeled as "Non-Hazardous Waste".
The label will also include the accumulation start date and end date, contact name, and
Sampling and Analysis Plan-Final 5/18/2012
2-6
