Prior
to development, depth-to-water measurements will be collected and used to calculate
purge volumes in each monitoring well. A well development rig operated by Cascade
will be used to surge and pump each monitoring well to remove fines from the well and
the surrounding annular pore spaces. The wells will be purged until a minimum of four
borehole volumes are removed, purge water begins to clear, and field parameters (pH,
conductivity, and temperature) stabilize to within 10 percent of the previous reading.
A copy of ETG's standard well development data sheet is presented in Appendix A.
2.4 Groundwater Sampling
Following installation and development of the 16 newly installed groundwater monitoring
wells, a groundwater monitoring event will be conducted to assess groundwater quality in
the newly installed wells at the site. During the monitoring event, groundwater samples
will be collected from the 16 newly installed groundwater monitoring wells. All
groundwater samples will be collected utilizing "low-flow" sampling techniques in
accordance with the USEPA Low-Flow Groundwater Monitoring Procedures (USEPA,
April 1996). ETG's standard operating procedures (SOPS) for "low-flow" groundwater
sampling are presented in Appendix B.
Groundwater samples will be collected from the disposable discharge tubing connected to
the peristaltic pump and transferred directly to laboratory-supplied containers with as
little agitation as possible. Information including sample ID, date and time, field
parameters, requested analyses and other pertinent information will be recorded on a field
sampling data sheet (FSDS). A copy of ETG's standard FSDS is presented in
Appendix A.
Sampling and Analysis Plan-Final 5/18/2012
2-5
