each soil sample, approximately 1 inch of the soil from one 6-inch liner will be placed in
a re-sealable plastic bag, and labeled with the corresponding sample number for field
screening purposes. Following removal of the material for field screening the acrylic
liners will be immediately capped and placed in an iced cooler.
The baggies containing each sample interval will be heated for approximately 10 minutes
prior to field screening with a calibrated PID utilizing a 10.4 electron volt(eV)bulb. PID
readings from each sample interval will be recorded on the field boring logs.
3.1.2 SW5035 Field Extraction
The portion of each soil sample from the hand auger/direct-push and hollow-stem auger
borings selected for TPH-g and gasoline range VOC analyses will be field-extracted
utilizing the USEPA SW5035 field extraction procedures. Soil samples will be extracted
and preserved for both low-level and high-level analysis in accordance with PACE'S
SW5035 field extraction kit instructions.
3.1.3 Soil Sample Designation
Soil samples collected from hand auger/direct-push and hollow-stem auger borings and
submitted for laboratory analysis will be designated as follows:
Boring IDA
where: Boring ID=Boring Designation(i.e. GP-43);
X=Top of the Sample Depth(feet bgs)
3.2 Groundwater Monitoring Well Sampling
ETG will assign each of the sixteen newly installed monitoring wells a designation as
shown on Table 2-1 and presented on Figure 3. The following sections provide the
procedures to be utilized during the collection of groundwater samples from the newly
installed wells.
3.2.1 Groundwater Elevation Measurements
Depth-to-water readings will be taken using a decontaminated electronic water probe.
Depth readings will be measured to the nearest 0.01-foot from the north side of the top of
each well casing. Measurements will be recorded immediately on a field data sheet.
Groundwater elevation measurements taken for a single data set will be obtained from as
short a period of time as practical to reduce the potential for external factors(e.g.,rainfall or
Sampling and Analysis Plan-Final 5/18/2012
3-2
