1 <br /> 4 PROJECT CONTROLS <br /> 41 Work Schedule <br /> 41,1 Western Oil & Spreading Acampo plant site <br /> Scheduling of remediation work has considered the following The source of <br /> additional contaminants has been removed The contamination zone is surrounded <br /> ' laterally by a permeable layer of coarse to fine sands and underlain by a less pervious <br /> clayey or consolidated silty material There is an expectation that much of the mass <br /> ' underlying the structures in the block wall containment area was clean soil replacing the <br /> UST cavities This will become more apparent during excavation of the adjacent area <br /> The bulk of contaminated soil contributing hydrocarbons down gradient is believed on the <br /> WO&S site most likely originating from near the removed UST area Expedient removal <br /> of the source of contaminants is advisable In the event that significant contamination <br /> Ile remains under the block wall containment area, a determination will be made to either <br /> partially contain it with the compacted backfill, develop another type of buried barrier <br /> remove the tanks and equipment and excavate the area or possibly leave the source in <br /> 1 place with an impervious cover Equipment and manpower resource are available at <br /> present Financial resources are very limited Work will be performed by WO&S using <br /> Icontracted excavation equipment Site excavation direction, technical guidance and <br /> sampling will be carried out with support of a licensed civil engineer responsible to <br /> ' W O&S <br /> ' 4-1 <br /> • <br /> I <br />
