UPGRADIENT ENVIR 2097723620 P. 06 <br /> August 2001--UEC contacts George Dunfield, Enforcement Office at Board of Geology, <br /> to discuss possible review by Board of Geology <br /> September 2001—Dorothy LofStrOm of EHD contacts UEC to suggest second meeting to <br /> reduce the scope of additional assessment activities previously requested in August <br /> meeting; second meeting scheduled for late September <br /> September 2001—Dorothy Lofstrom informs UEC that she has resigned her position at <br /> EHD; after discussion with Gillies Trucking,UEC decides to postpone second meeting <br /> until replacement R.G.has been hired by EHD <br /> October 2001—Jeff Wong and Margaret Lagorio at EFID submit letter to Gillies <br /> Trucking informing Gillies that there is no need for a second meeting to discuss a <br /> reduction in the scope of additional assessment activities.EHD indicates that"the only <br /> change in the additional work needed is that instead of installing monitoring wells, the <br /> verification of the lateral and vertical extent of soil and groundwater contamination can <br /> be shown by collecting and analyzing soil and discrete grab groundwater samples front <br /> soil borings/probes."(Because soil borings GT-7 and GT-8 were drilled in 1996 to <br /> delineate the lateral and vertical extent of soil contamination, it is unclear where such <br /> additional borings should be located to satisfy EHD concerns). <br /> November 2001—Marty Hartzell, R.G.,Regional Water Quality Control Board, assumes <br /> temporary role as person in responsible charge; reviews PAR and subsequent(1999) <br /> assessment report <br /> Mid-2002--Nuel Henderson, R. G.,hired by EHD to replace Dorothy Lofstrom <br /> June 2002—UEC submits Second Quarter 2002 report, summarizing site investigation <br /> and recommending reduction in monitoring frequency and termination of further <br /> assessment activities <br /> September 2002—UEC submits letter to EHD, noting that no comment to Second <br /> Quarter report has been received and informing HID that monitoring frequency will be <br /> reduced to annual <br /> September 2002—EHD submits letter to Gillies Trucking, informing Gillies that EHD <br /> does not concur with UEC recommendations and instructing Gillies to submit a work <br /> plan to comply with the August 2001 directives by November 1, 2002 <br />
