stockpiled soil.
- The excavation was backfilled using sos.l excavated from a
shallow pit at the west end of the site.
ry, This preliminary report and workplan preparation was
authorized on August 2, 1990, in accordance with our scope of
services dated July 26, 1990 and contract dated August 9, 1990.
II. SCOPE AND PURPOSE OP INVESTIGATION
The purpose of this investigation has been to assist
Gillies T--uckinrj Co. (GTC) to assemble and review information
gathered in conjunction with the removal and disposal of
underground fuel storage tanks (USTs) at a truck terminal
located at 3931 Newton Road in Stockton, California. This
report is intended to fulfill San Joaquin County's need for a
report which consolidates the information gathered to date and
- presents an approach to further characterize the soil and
groundwater at the site. According to their terminology, this
is the document which meets the requirements of the "Soil
Contamination Workplan". Once the soil contamination is
defined, a "Soil Remediation Proposal" will be prepared, if
necessary.
Richesin & Associates, Inc. did not participate in the
performance of construction activities related to tank removal
or soil excavations, or the collection, sampling and analysis of
soils from the tank excavation or stockpile. Laboratory
analyses were apparently requested by SEMCO, the contractor to
- Gillies Trucking Co. , during the first tank removal phase in
1989 and during additional excavations in 1990.
our current scope of work has consisted of:
Task 1 - Prepare Report of Removal and Excavation
Efforts Performed to Date
Task 2 - Prepare Work Plan and Complete Permitting
for Additional Field Investigations
Tasks 1 and all but thi permit preparation part of Task 2 have
been essentially completed at this time. Once the work plan is
approved, the field study permit applications and well permit
will be filed with the County. Task 3, referred to in our July
26, 1990 proposal - Subsurface investigations - will be
commenced only after approved by Gillies Trucking Co.
---
----------- _-`-
----------------Additional evaluations ----and- -assessents- related- -tom soil
remediation alternatives and planning.have been performed by RAI
in accordance with your requests.
2
