Miller Ave PR#: 523216
Escalon, CA. 95320 CO#: 0020630
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJCEHD) reviewed
Work plan for Contamination Assessment dated March 9, 2005 as submitted by
your consultant Ground Zero Analysis (GZA), Inc on March 11, 2005 and has the
following comments.
This proposal is in response to SJCEHD's correspondence of August 17, 2004.
Since that time, SJCEHD has re-evaluated some of the EPA Methodology
requirements originally included on clandestine drug lab investigations under our
oversight. The following EPA Methods only are to used for this soil/sludge or
water samples:
1. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC): 8240 or 8260 (VOC by capillary
column), or a combination of 8010 (Halogenated VOC) and 8020
(Aromatic VOC) and,
2. Semi-Volatile Organics: 8270 (Semi-VOC) and,
3. Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH): Gasoline by 8015m with 5030 prep
and Diesel by 8015m with 3540 prep and,
4. Total Recoverable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TRPH): Liquids by
418.1/9070A and soils by 8440/3560.
Six (6) soil sampling points were proposed to be collected in the native soil, 1-2-
feet below the tank, D-box, and rock of the leach line trenches. Additionally, one
soil sample was proposed under each of the two, ten-foot deep sumps at the end
of the leach lines and all were to be backfilled with native soil. As discussed with
John Lane of GZA on March 16, 2005, the following modifications are to be
made:
1. two of the line soil boring locations will have to be relocated to
approximately mid-point of each line, —25-feet from the D-box and,
2. a neat cement grout (Type 11 cement and water) is to be used to backfill
each soil boring.
