Stockton Cineplex Site
Work plan for Preliminary Risk Assessment and Contaminant Mitigation
Page: 5
Low concentrations of diesel range petroleum hydrocarbons (less than 1 mg/kg) were
detected in soil samples collected from soil samples collected from boring B-9 at 20
feet. Diesel range petroleum hydrocarbons were also detected in water samples
collected in borings B-5, B-6, B-7, and B-9. 3.1 µg/1 MTBE was also detected in the
water sample from boring B-9. The MTBE is probably associated with the diesel
range petroleum hydrocarbons. The levels can be attributed to the nearby storm
drains or the Auto Storage facility historically located nearby.
Low concentrations of chloroform (less than 0.7ug/1) were detected in detected in
water samples collected in borings B-3, B-4, and B-6. Chloroform is a byproduct of
chlorine use. Chlorine is commonly used for the sanitation of swimming pools or
public water supplies. It can also be a common laboratory contaminant when city
waters are chlorinated. The Laboratory that analyzed these samples is on chlorinated
City of Modesto water. The concentrations are all within drinking water standards.
Table 1. Summery Table Soil and Groundwater Analyses,
Soil Labora ory Sample Results 5-24-00
Sample LD.
