By letter dated 23 December 2014, the EHD had conditionally approved Work
Plan for Soil Boring (Work Plan), dated 24 November 2014, for the advancement of one soil
boring, B1 (but illustrated as B14 on Plate 2 of the Work Plan) using a hand auger to
approximately ten feet below surface grade (bsg), adjacent to the `former used-oil tank'.
Included in the EHD list of conditions for Work Plan approval was the directive to amend the
Work Plan to include additional site assessment first presented by the EHD during a meeting on
12 December 2014 attended by property owners and representatives of ExxonMobil
Environmental Services and Cardno.
In response to the EHD directive, Cardno proposes:
• Advancing a second soil boring, B2 (but illustrated as B15 on Plate 2 of the Addendum),
in the former underground storage tank (UST) area using direct push drill technology to
approximately sixty feet bsg to delineate the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon
contamination;
• Collecting continuous soil samples to total boring depth for lithologic evaluation;
• Based on changes in lithology, readings from the photo-ionization detector, and visual
observations, submitting a minimum of six soil samples from the borehole for chemical
analysis;
