30 August 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 07-1517
The open excavation area will be backfilled with clean fill and crushed rock or pea gravel for future
asphalt cover.
When analytical data for the stockpiled soil has been procured from the laboratory and landfill
acceptance are received, the soil will be loaded into end dump loaders for disposal at Forward
Landfill or a Class I Landfill.
3.3. EXCAVATION SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
An estimated 24 soil samples will be collected from the excavation and will be submitted for
laboratory analysis. Soil samples will be collected from the base and each side wall of the "new"
excavation at a minimum interval of every 20 linear feet. Soil samples will be collected from the X
base of the excavation at a minimum of one sample for every 500 square feet (25 by 25 feet) of
excavation area, approximately four samples. However, additional sample may be collected base on
the field indications.
Soil samples collected from the base and sidewalls of the excavation will be obtained using a
backhoe or shovel. Soil samples will be collected from the bucket of the excavating equipment by
pressing a 3-inch long by 2-inch diameter brass sleeve into the excavated soil material using a metric
soil sampling hammer. The exposed ends of the sample sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets,
capped and sealed with tape.
Soil samples will be collected from soil stockpiles by digging approximately one foot into the soil
stockpile.Soil samples will be collected pressing a brass sampling sleeve into the soil stockpile with
a metric soil sampler. Selected soil samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department
of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents: 54b k , e, S,r,P1c5
e
• TPH-g/d/mo by EPA Method 8015 Modified/5030; n b-ay c, P j
Ic
• BTEX and or VOCs by EPA Method 8020 or 8260/8010; and fCOS a
 (P
• Metals by EPA Method Methods 200 (total threshold limit concentration: TTLC/ soluble
threshold limit concentration: STLC lead), EPA 200 and Methods 1311 (TCLP-lead if
Lea ywa !
required for disposal). ovr
• Stockpile samples will be analyzed for Semi Volatile Compounds by EPA Method 8270, (00/0'd
and may require HVOCs by EPA Method 8260/8010.
Laboratory reports for soil analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
