Cape Environmental Managemenk Inc.
Health&Safety Plan
existing underground storage tank(s) Approximate locations of fuel delivery lines from the
USTs to the main building are shown on the site drawings. No tank vents, clean-outs, or
sticking ports were observed. The area of the USTs consists of lawns and shrubbery
landscaping.
Underground obstructions in the immediate vicinity of the USTs include the UST fill pipe
and fuel delivery lines, gas lines and electric lines. A buried telephone conduit is located
approximately 30 feet east of the UST location. Locations of on-site water lines were not
positively identified. These would include a 2-inch diameter fire service connection entering
the property from Lindsay Street in the immediate vicinity of the mapped gas service
connection, and shallow landscape irrigation lines. A buried, cast-ii-place electrical
transformer vault is located immediately adjacent to and west of the estimated location of the
USTs. Excavation in this area may be problematic if the vault walls were to be exposed,
unsupported, or undermined during tank removal. A 3-foot diameter cast iron manhole
cover and iron valve box were noted in the area between the USTs and the main building. It
was not possible to open these unlabeled covers, and their function is uncertain.
3.0 FIELD ACTrVITUES
The objectives of this subsurface soil investigation is to assess the potential presence of
petroleum hydrocarbon impacts soil related to the use of two (2) UST's. The investigation
will be conducted by utilizing a drill ng to advance soil augers and obtain representative soil
samples for analyses. CENII will observe the advancement of three (3) angled soil borings to
20 feet below ground surface (bgs) and one boring to 10 feet bgs. The 20 foot bonngs will
assess soils adjacent and below the UST's and the 10 foot boring will assess soils adjacent to
the product piping. All work is to be conducted in accordance with California Well
Standards and San Juaqum County Division of Environmental Health specifications.
TECHNICAL APPROACH
To meet the above objectives CEMI will utilize information gathered from the soil boring
advancements which will include soil sampling at 5 foot intervals to a total depth of 10 or 20
feet bgs (or auger refusal depth). Soil samples will be logged and screened in the field using
an organic vapor meter (OVM). Samples will be analyzed using a stationary state certified
laboratory.
SCOPE OF WORK
Within the approach described above, the scope of work will include the following tasks:
K064M2 HSP 4
