0 M
Cape Environmental Management.Inc.
Health&Safety Plan
Ta Health and Safety Plan
The Health and Safety Plan is an integral part of our hazardous materials practice It is based
on our understanding of potential hazardous materials that may be present at the site and
safety concerns involved with personnel working at the site. It will be designed to minimize
the likelihood that exposure of potentially hazardous materials and unsafe conditions will
occur during field work. The site-specific health and safety plan will be prepared in
accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Guidance Manual for Hazardous Waste
Site Activities.
Task 2: Permitting
Obtaining the necessary approval and/or permits for the installation of four subsurface soil
borings. Upon approval, the site investigation will commence. As a part of this work plan a
detailed sampling plan will, be prepared in accordance with the federal guidance document
SW-846 which will include sampling methodologies, quality assurance/quality control
procedures, chain of custody and laboratory analysis methods.
Task 3. Subsurface Investigation - Soil borings
• CEMI will notify Underground Service Alert (USA) to identify underground utilities
that may exist. It should be noted that USA typically will only locate the utilities
within the public easements.
• The supervision of the advancement of four soil borings. Three 30 degree angle
borings to a depth of 20 feet bgs are to be advanced adjacent to the UST's to assess
potential soil impact from fuel leaks and one soil boring to 10 feet bgs will be
advanced to assess potential soil impact from fuel leaking from the product delivery
PiPmg
• All borings will include representative soil sampling and geologic logging by our field
personnel. This will include field screening of each obtained soil sample by an
Organic Vapor Meter (OVM). The first five feet of each boring will be hand augured
to identify unmarked underground utilities.
• Impenetrable bedrock, cobbles, flowing sands, and other adverse conditions may be
encountered during drilling. If this occurs, the anticipated soil boring depths and
locations may change.
• Soil samples will be collected at 5 foot intervals, visually inspected, and screened
utilizing an Organic Vapor Meter (OVM). At each boring, soil samples with the
X064032 HSP 5
