• •
September 25, 2002. The purpose of the RI Plan was to identify activities that will be performed
to determine the nature and extent of potential VOC impacts to soil and groundwater.
The RI site activities will be completed in a phased approach commencing the week of
November 4, 2002. It is expected that all fieldwork activities will be complete by March 31, 2002,
subject to weather conditions and agency permit approvals.
Upon completion of field activities, TRC will prepare a RI report to summarize the findings from
the field investigation. This will include findings regarding the nature and extent of soil and
groundwater impacts, and geologic and hydrogeologic conditions. The need for any additional
investigations will also be presented in the RI report.
The RI investigation will be performed in the following phases:
• Sample six existing groundwater monitoring wells
• Complete soil vapor survey
Complete sewer video survey
• Complete up to 11 soil borings
Install up to 4 monitoring wells
Collect and analyze soil vapor, soil and groundwater samples
Report findings from RI
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The TRC RI report, along with investigation reports, fact sheets, and background materials for
ongoing investigations in the nearby area, are available at the Lodi Public Library for review by the
community.
GLOSSARY OF TERMS
Groundwater: Underground water that fills pores between particles of soil, sand, and gravel or
openings in rocks to the point of saturation.
Remedial Investigation (RI): A process in which the nature and extent of soil and groundwater
impacts is evaluated to help guide the selection of viable remedial alternatives.
Soil Vapor: Vapor, present in void spaces in soil between the groundwater and the surface of the
ground, which may contain chemicals.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): An organic compound (carbon containing) that evaporates
(volatilizes) at room temperature.
2
