N Farland:
LIMITED SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION AND OZONE SPARGE PILOT TEST
`VORKPLAN, LODI SOUTH AREA,SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
The Regional Water Quality Control Board (Regional Board) has reviewed Randtron's submittal
entitled "Limited Subsurfacellrvesiigution and Ozone Sparge Pilot Test Pfbrptan, Lodi South
Area",, dated May 7004. Regional Board staff has reviewed the report and our comments are
provided below.
A grolmdwatet extraction and treatment system is currently being operated in association with
the groundwater clean up at the former Chevron Service Station located at 301 West Kettleman
J Lane. The proximity of that site to the South Area contamination, in conjunction with a lack of
characterization of the limit of the PCE contamination area to thewest, lead us to conclude that
an additional CPT location should be included to determine the western extent of the-PCE
contamination. We have discussed this with Deems Padgett of TRC and we understand that the
1 Workplan will be modified to include this additional CPT location.
Subject to the above, Regional Board staff concurs with the Investigation Workplan. Of course,
additional work may be required depending on the results of the proposed investigations. Also,
please notify the Regional Board staff at least three days prior to the start of the investigation
fieldwork.
Regional Board staff also concurs conceptually with the proposed Ozone Sparging Pilot Test.
Please provide the Regional Board with a detailed sampling and analysis plan for the ozone
testing which includes the wells to be sampled, the frequency of sampling events and the
constituents for which the samples will be analyzed-
California Environmental Protection
nalyzed.C:aliforniaEnvironmentalProtection Agency
j
4-0 Reotiled Paper L.
