Holz Rubber Co.,Inc. <br /> 1129 South Sacramento Street <br /> Lodi, California 95240 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> BEM Systems, Inc., (BEM) in association with Malcolm-Pirnie, Inc., both full-service environmental and <br /> engineering consulting firms, plan to perform a groundwater sampling program at the site of R.M. Holz Rubber <br /> Co., Inc., 1129 South Sacramento Street, Lodi, California(see Figure 1, Site Location Map). The purpose of this <br /> study is to evaluate whether groundwater quality has been impacted from the historical industrial operations at the <br /> subject property. This work is being performed for a confidential client as part of property acquisition <br /> environmental due diligence. <br /> GROUNDWATER SAMPLING <br /> Five (5)groundwater samples will be collected from the perimeter of the site as depicted in Figure 2, Proposed <br /> Sampling Locations. The number and locations of the proposed sampling points are based upon current and past <br /> activities and known site conditions. The actual locations of the sample points may vary slightly based on field <br /> conditions encountered during the implementation of the sampling program. Groundwater sampling will be <br /> performed under the direction of a California Registered Professional Engineer or Geologist. <br /> SAMPLING PROCEDURE <br /> Groundwater samples will be collected using temporary wells. Well installation will be performed by augering to <br /> approximately 10 feet below the water table and lowering a 2-inch inside diameter PVC well with a I0-foot screen section <br /> at the base. To limit the inflow of formation material (silt), a fine weave polypropylene sock will be fastened to the <br /> screened section of the well. Water samples will be collected using a weighted, disposable polyethylene bailer, as soon as <br /> the required sample volume has entered the well. Nowell development or well purging will be performed During the <br /> advancement of the auger and the collection of the groundwater samples,a photoionization detector(PID)will be used to <br /> screen the soil and water for the presence of volatile compounds. <br /> SAMPLE HANDLING <br /> The samples will be labeled with unique identification numbers, time aad date of sample collection, and the name <br /> of the sample collector. Labeled samples will be placed in sealable plastic bags on ice in coolers, cooled to a <br /> temperature of approximately 4°C and preserved as appropriate. Samples will be transported in sealed coolers <br /> under strict chain-of-custody via overnight air freight for subsequent laboratory analysis. <br /> SAMPLE ANALYSIS AND ANALYTICAL METHODS <br /> In order to ultimately facilitate rapid transfer of the property, all groundwater samples will be analyzed on an <br /> expedited basis, by a California Certified environmental laboratory, for the frill "TCL/TAL+30" analytical suite: <br /> target compound list (TCL) organics and 30 most prominent tentatively identified compounds (TICS) and target <br /> analyte list (TAL) metals. In addition, all groundwater samples will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> (TPHC)and pH.
