(Aegis), offers the following comments:
1. Aegis will continue to monitor groundwater on a quarterly basis.
2. Aegis feels that the samples collected from the Exxon Company, U.S.A.
(Exxon)well in the adjacent sidewalk along Pershing Avenue (Attachment 2)
are not representative of groundwater conditions. This opinion is based on
the construction of the well with respect to groundwater elevation (i.e., water
level is very near bottom of well screen). Aegis recommends that a
HydroPunchtm between the former Shell Oil Company (Shell) underground
storage tanks and the Exxon well will be more indicative of groundwater
conditions on the Shell site. The HydroPunch will be used as a screening
device only.
3. A copy of the chain-of-custody for the quarterly groundwater sampling on
April 17, 1991, is presented in Attachment 3.
89-016N.LTFi .1-
GEOLOGISTS - ENGINEERS - GROUND WATER SCIENTISTS
