Impact 2 - On-site Wells for Fire Water Supply
Water use at the proposed facility would be for fire, domestic an
process purposes. An on-site well would be drilled to accommodate wate
supply needs.
The on-site well would be pumped with a low-flow and high-flo
pump. The low-flow pump would provide domestic and process water durin
normal operations. The high-flow pump would be activated during a
emergency to supply the required minimum flow of 65 pounds per squar
inch (PSI) to the automatic fire sprinkler system and fire hydrants
located within the compounds of the facility (Falcon Energy Associates
1988) .
The fire water supply well and pump would be located north of the
plant, set back 180 feet from the Atchison-Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
easement. The well would supply water to the twelve proposed fire
hydrants to be located approximately 200 feet apart in the strategic
parts of the facility.
Mitigation Measure. All wells drilled on-site for fire water
supply and other domestic purposes should be approved and monitored by
the San Joaquin Local Health District.
Impact 3 - Sanitary Sewage Disposal Demands
Sanitary sewage disposal for the proposed facility would be
provided by individual septic systems at each building housing a restroom
facility. Each septic system would be required to have an area of equal
size set aside for 100 percent replacement system if the original septic
system fails (Miller 1988) . Soil analysis performed on the project site
confirms the presence of clay in the soil which would require area for
individual seepage pits in addition to the leach line for each septic
system. The size of the seepage pits would be determined by the San
Joaquin Local Health District after review of County requirements and
facility specifications. The proposed septic system would more than
adequately accommodate the proposed 28 facility employees (Miller 1988) .
3-16
104-6.R3 4/10/89
