The conclusions of this assessment indicate that
the maximum individual cancer risk associated with facility operation
would be approximately 3.1 x 10-6 (i .e. , 3.1 in one million) . This means
that if a population of one million adults were exposed continuously to
the maximum annual average air concentration associated with 30-year
operation of the proposed facility, 3.1 of the exposed individuals would
be expected to die from cancer. This is a conservative estimate because
few, if any, individuals would actually be exposed to the maximum annual
average concentration, 24 hours per day, over the operating lifetime of
the facility. The assessment also conservatively estimates that far less
3-64
101-30.R5 4/13/89
