Ms. Carol Oz December 7 , 1990
San Joaquin County
Public Health
Page 2
vacuum truck. When the sludge and other debris have
been removed and the LEL reading is 0, the washing will
cease. All interior rinse water and sludge, if
hazardous, will be manifested and transported by and to
Ramos Oil Company in West Sacramento.
Semco, in Modesto, will be responsible for hauling and
disposing of the removed underground storage tanks.
9 . If it is safe to enter the tank excavation, soil samples
will be collected with a core or trowel. If the
excavation is deemed to be unsafe for entry of sampling
personnel, samples will be obtained from a backhoe
bucket. Soil samples will be taken from soil located one
to two feet below the bottom of the excavation. At least
two (2) soil samples, one from either end of the tank,
shall be taken if the tank in question is suspected of
having leaked.
10. As you mentioned to me during our telephone conversation,
I will sign the County Soil Sample Analysis Requirement
Sheets that have been inserted into the three (3) sets
of plans that you currently have.
I trust that this information will suffice for you to
final the closure plan and have it approved. I also understand
that this will not interfere with your processing of the
underground tank installation plans for the new tanks to be
installed at this site.
Thank you very much for your assistance with this
project. If you have any more questions please feel free to call
me at (916) 348-3057 .
Respectfully, , A
4).
Frances W.W.
