Previous work at the site does not indicate that groundwater in the area of proposed
wells MW-2 or MW-3 will be impacted with petroleum hydrocarbons.
Well MW-1 will be continuously cored and constructed of 4-inch PVC casing, as opposed to 2-
inch casing previously described in EMCON's November 29, 1995 work plan. All other well
construction details will be consistent with EMCON's work plan. Groundwater sampled from
each well will be analyzed for total extractable petroleum hydrocarbons as crude oil (TEPHc)
using EPA Method 8015, aromatic VOC's using EPA Method 8020, and polynuclear aromatic
hydrocarbons (PNAs) using EPA Method 8310.
Development plans for the MVTH property inhibits the installation of an up gradient
groundwater monitoring well at this time. The installation of the three wells on the adjacent
property will provide both gradient and chemical data from permanent wells in a timely fashion.
Wells that are placed on the MVTH property prior to development may be destroyed during
construction activities. Data obtained from the proposed wells will be used to place any wells
that may be required on the MVTH property after development. It is estimated that the property
will be developed by fourth quarter of 1996.
Upon authorization from the RWQCB and the relevant property owners, CPL will obtain the
necessary permits from the San Joaquin County Public Health Services. Field work will
commence within two weeks of obtaining permits. Please call Martin Bloes (510/842-6855) or
me (510/842-6930) with any remarks or questions.
Sincerely,
D. .
