Ms. Katie L. Hower Project 22560-203.002
July 2, 1997
Page 5
contamination were being transported by groundwater, these contaminants would be
expected to occur in groundwater samples collected from downgradient wells MW-1 and
MW-3. No constituents for which chemical analyses were performed were detected in any
of the groundwater samples collected during this sampling event. This indicates that
soluble constituents such as BTEX are apparently not present and petroleum
hydrocarbons, potentially present in soils in the vicinity of borings GP-6 and GP-12, are
not being transported by groundwater due to their insolubility.
Analytical Results
No constituents were detected in any of the groundwater samples, including the duplicate
sample, submitted for analysis during the second quarterly groundwater sampling event.
Table 1 summarizes the results of the first and second quarters of groundwater sampling.
CONCLUSIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
During three sampling events conducted in February 1996, March 1997, and the most
recent sampling event in May 1997, no BTEX or PAI-Is have been detected in any of the
groundwater samples. Additionally, TPHG has not been detected during the two sampling
events for which this analysis has been performed. TPHD was detected in the
groundwater sample and the duplicate sample collected from.MW-1 during the March
1997 sampling event but, was not detected in the groundwater sample collected from
MW-1 during the May 1997 sampling event. No constituents were detected during the
May 1997 sampling event.
The consistent absence of any BTEX or PAI-Is in groundwater samples collected over
three sampling events suggests that any of these compounds potentially present in the
impacted soils have probably reached equilibrium in the soil/water system present in the
impacted area.
If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact EMCON at (209) 275-
4968.
mcon
FRE:\H:\WINWORD\MP2QT97.DOC-97\jes:2
