Site Background Information: Chapin Brothers Investments, Inc.
• TPH-g not detected below was detected below 20 feet bsg overall, except in the area of
boring CBS.
• Benzene was not detected in any of the soil samples analyzed.
• Various other BTEX compounds were detected in six of the seventeen soil samples analyzed.
The greatest concentrations of BTEX compounds detected were generally in soil samples
collected at a depth of 20 feet bsg offsite and at a depth of 15 feet bsg in the area of soil
boring CB5.
• MTBE was detected in one of the seventeen soil samples analyzed. MTBE was detected at
a concentration of 0.007 mg/kg(CB 1-25').The other fuel additives were not detected in the
soil samples analyzed.
A total of nine grab water samples collected at the site. Six grab water samples were analyzed by
OnSite and three additional grab water sample were analyzed by MAI.
• TPH-g was detected in four of the grab ground water samples collected from the site at
concentrations up to 22,000 microgram per liter (µg/1). The greatest concentration of
hydrocarbons as gasoline were detected at the location of CHP5 and toward the west to the
location of CB3.
• Benzene was detected in four of the water samples analyzed at concentrations ranging from
1.2 pg/1 in boring CHP6 to 150 µg/1 in boring CHP5. The most significant concentrations
of toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene were also detected in the water sample collected from
CHP5.
• MTBE was detected in three of the grab water samples analyzed at concentrations ranging
from 2.3 µg/1 in boring CHP7 to 11 µg/1 in boring CHP5. TBA was detected in the grab
water sample from boring CHP5 at a concentration of 67 pg/l. While DIPE was detected in
six of the grab water samples analyzed at concentrations ranging from 1.3 µg/1 in boring
CHP7 to 150 µg/1 in boring CHP 1.
• TPH-g was detected in samples from monitoring well samples MW-1,MW-3,MW-5,M W-4
and vapor well VE-1 at concentrations of 410 µg/l, 4,600 pg/l, 800 µg/l, 4,000 µg/1 and
1,100 pg/l,respectively.
• Benzene was detected in ground water samples collected from wells MW-1,MW-3,MW-4
MW-5 and vapor well VE-1 at concentrations of 5.9 pg/l,76µg/1,740µg/l, 1.9µg/1 and 9.2
µg/1, respectively. Other BTEX compounds were detected in the well samples at
concentrations up to 480 pg/l.
• MTBE was detected in the samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-3 and MW-4 at
concentrations of4.4 pg/l, 1.7 pg/1 and 3.7µg/1;DIPE was detected in samples collected from
wells MW-3, MW-4 and MW-5 at concentrations of 20 pg/l, 1.2 µg/1 and 9.2 µg/l,
Advanced Geo Environmental,Inc.
