28 June 2001
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0103
The PVC piping will be routed from each ground water extraction well head to a water holding tank;
the holding tank will be connected to the GAC ground water treatment system; two in-line vessels.
A plan of the proposed piping system and enclosed unit location are depicted in Figure 3.
At the direction of the property owner and due to property use constraints, the location of the ground
water pump and treat system is proposed to be at the southwest corner of the site(Figure 3). This
proposed location of the pump and treat system will allow the site to conduct normal day-to-day
business without interference from the operation of the remediation system. The pump and treat
system will be secured by a chain-linked,gated enclosure will be approximately 12 feet wide,20 feet
long and six feet high.
Electricity is readily available to the site. A dedicated electrical meter has been installed that will
connect directly to the pump and treat system.
4.4.2. Discharge Piping System
AGE plans to install a two-inch diameter, schedule 40 polyvinylchloride (PVC)pipe underground
along the west side of the site to the City of Stockton discharge line located in Buena Vista Avenue.
(see Figure 3). AGE anticipates a continuous discharge of treated ground water from site to the City
of Stockton sanitary sewer at a flow rate of approximately four to six gallons per minute.
4.4.3. Ground Water Extraction Monitoring Activities
The pump and treat system will be monitored weekly to ensure optimal removal of dissolved
petroleum hydrocarbons. The ground water influent and effluent flow readings will be recorded
before the GAC filter-media phase. Grab treatment water samples will be collected on a monthly
basis from the influent and effluent end of the pump and treat system. The water samples will be
collected and transported to a DHS-certified laboratory, in a chilled container under ice, for water
samples and under chain-of-custody procedure.
During the "start-up" period for the ground water extraction system, operational parameters and
ground water samples will be collected on a daily basis. The anticipated start-up period will be
approximately two weeks.During the"start-up"period,five model 3001 Solinst Levelogger pressure
transducers will be installed in the three new extraction and two additional shallow ground water
monitoring wells. Weekly data will be collected from the ground water level transducers.
Advanced GcoE nviron mental,Inc.
