12 April 2005
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0103
The ground water samples for MNA analysis will be collected within zero-head space or air-less
containers,septa sealed 500-mL amber containers;while volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials will
be collected for the volatile organic compounds(VOCs). The samples for MNA and VOC analysis
will collected through the purge tubing and discharged to the inside base of the containers until
filled;this will be required to reduce the exposure of the ground water to atmosphere conditions.In-
line sample filtration with a 0.45 micron-filter,will be conducted only if the presents of suspended
sediments is excessive during the purging and monitoring.
MW 4
Additionally, four of the wells(VW-6,EW 1 to EW-3)with the highest concentrations of the VOCs
will be purged a full three to five volumes of ground water with a down-hole pump, monitored with
the a flow-through cell and sampled with a disposable bailer for volatile organic analysis. The
collection of these samples will allow for statistical analysis of the VOC concentrations in ground
water utilizing methods previously implemented for plume monitoring.Laboratory analysis will be
conducted within a 48-hour period after sample collected to reduce any dramatic changes of the
dissolved metals oxidation levels.
