Webber Avenue, 3`d Floor
Stockton, CA 95201
Subject: Ground Water Monitoring-Natural Attenuation Work Plan
CHAPIN BROTHERS INVESTMENTS,INC.
1766 Monte Diablo Avenue, Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Henderson and Ms. Lagorio:
At the request of Mr. Russell Chapin, Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. (AGE)has prepared the
enclosed Work Plan for assessment of the natural attenuation process on-going at 1766 Monte
Diablo Avenue, Stockton,California(the site). The work plan is prepared in response to the EHD
letter dated 03 March 2005.
The objective of this proposed monitoring is the following: 1) to assess the mass of remaining
contaminants in ground water without the operation of the ground water extraction network; 2)to
assess the flow and gradient of ground water without the operation of the ground water extraction
network;3)monitor for the parameter which signal the natural attenuation of dissolved hydrocarbons
and 4) the possible evaluation of the rate of the potential for the natural attenuation of dissolved
hydrocarbons.
The location of the site and its surroundings are illustrated in Figure 1.Structures,well locations and
proposed boring locations are illustrated in Figure 2. Investigation activities will be performed in
accordance with guidelines for investigation of underground storage tank(UST)sites established by
the EHD and this work plan was prepared in accordance with Appendix A to Tri-Regional
Recommendations-Reporting,dated 16 April 2004,prepared by the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB)for the investigation ofunderground storage tanks(UST)sites.
SOIL VAPOR/AIR-SPARGING REMEDIATION
A soil vapor extraction (SVE)/in-situ air-sparging (IAS) system was installed and operated at the
site from April 1996 to late June 1999 to remediate hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water.
However, over the course of the SVE remedial action, rising ground water elevation had submerged
337 Shaw Road.Stockton,California 95215
Telephone(209)467-1006 Fax(209)467-1118
