20 July 1995
AGE-NC-95-0113
' Page 4 of 5 f
' 4 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES
A total of 10 soil samples were submitted to the laboratory for analysis TPH-g and BTE&X were
' detected m two of the ten samples(B1-10 and B2-15) at concentrations ranging from 0 007 mg/kg
(ppm) to 260 ppm
' Lead(TTLC)was detected in four of the ten samples at concentrations ranging from 5 3 ppm (B2-
15)to 230 ppm(B 1-10) Because the TTLC concentration of lead exceeded background levels (12
' ppm)m B1-10, the sample was also analyzed for STLC lead STLC lead was detected m B1-10 at
2 7 mg/l(ppm) Analytical results are summarized on Table 1 The laboratory report and chain-of-
custody are included in Appendix C
4 3 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
No TPH-g or BTE&X were detected in the ground water sample collected from MW-1 on 25 May
1995 The laboratory report and chain-of-custody are included in Appendix D
5.0. CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5 1 HYDROCARBON IMPACTED SOIL
EBased upon the analytical results of soil samples collected during this investigation, hydrocarbon-
impacted soil at the site appears to be limited to the immediate area of boring B 1, beneath the
building Only very low concentrations of hydrocarbons were detected in boring B2 at a depth of 15
rfeet, indicating that impacted soil in neither laterally or horizontally extensive However, we
recommend the installation of one additional slant soil boring north of B 1, under the building to assess
the northern extent of impacted soil at the site Upon completion of the assessment, remedial
alternatives for the impacted soil can be considered
5 2 HYDROCARBON IMPACTED GROUND WATER
Since no petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the sample from MW-1, it does not appear that
ground water has been impacted at the site However,we recommend collection of a confirmation
water sample from MW-1, in the following quarter
I
