r20 July 1995 <br /> • AGE-NC-95-0113 <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br />' 3 3 WELL COMPLETION <br /> Prior to completion, water in boring MW-1 was allowed to stabilize to deternnne ground water depth <br /> After several hours, MW-1 was completed as a 2-inch diameter ground water monitoring well using <br /> PVC casing with 0 020 screen from 20 to 40 feet The filter pack (#2 sand) was installed from 18 to <br /> 40 feet and bentonite pellets were used to make a 2 5-foot plug to a depth of 16 5 feet The well was <br />' then grouted to the surface with Portland cement Borings B-1 through B-4 were each backfilled <br /> from the surface to total depth with Portland cement <br />' 3 4 _MONITORING WELL PURGE PROCEDURES <br />' On 25`May 1995, the water level in MW-1 was measured relative to the top of the casing using a <br /> Solinst water level meter Ground water depth was measured at 15 38 feet, approximately 4 feet <br /> above the screened interval of the well Therefore, a submersible pump was used to purge the well <br /> and draw ground water down below the screened interval Twelve gallons (minimum three well <br /> volumes) of water were removed from the well to stabilize temperature, pH and conductivity <br /> (Appendix B) Stabilization parameters were measured at two gallon intervals using an ICM water <br />' • analyzer Purged water was stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT drums <br />' 3 5 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS <br /> After ground water in the well was stabilized, a ground water sample was collected from MW-1 using <br />' a new disposable plastic bailer The ground water sample was collected in two 40ml VOA.vials <br /> preserved with HCl The sample was transported in a chilled container to MAI and analyzed for TPH <br /> as gasoline and BET&X in accordance with EPA methods 5030 and 602, respectively <br /> 4.0. FINDINGS <br /> 41 SOIL PROFILE 3 <br /> Gray to brown clays were encountered throughout the entire depths of MW-1, B-3 and B-4 Clays, <br /> silty clays and clayey silts were encountered throughout the entire depths of B-1 and B-2 Water was <br /> encountered in MW-1 at a depth of approximately 25 feet Boring logs are included in Appendix A ' <br /> Organic vapors were detected in two soil samples from boring B-I and one soil sample from boring <br /> B-2 at concentrations up to 393 parts per million (ppm) <br /> • <br /> I <br />
