WaterWork
Quality Assurance and Qualms Control Plan
# The
purpose of this plan is to describe field and laboratory
quality control procedures that will be followed throughout this
investigation. The quality assurance objective for this
investigation is to provide representative data that are known to
be of acceptable quality and statistically sound. The following
field and laboratory procedures will be implemented to ensure
c:3 that this objective is met.
i ,
;.x
1. Field Equipment Calibration
is To ensure instrument reliability and consistency, the pH
meter, electrical conductivity, temperature meter and
Electric water level meter will be calibrated prior to each
j; use daily. Calibration results and instrument repairs will
be recorded in a field notebook.
All equipment will be checked daily and replaced if necessary
t ' by a designated member of the field crew. Instrument
manuals, including calibration and repair information, will
t accompany each instrument into the field.
t
2. Field Quality Control Samples
k.
To ensure the quality of data collected, duplicates of 10* of
f. soil and water samples will analyzed by a state certified
laboratory. One travel blank will be provided with every
shipment of groundwater samples to the analytical laboratory.
To ensure uniform treatment of all samples submitted, the
j identity of the field quality control sample(s) will be
t unknown by the laboratory.
3. Travel Blanks
When sampling groundwater, travel blanks will be used to
detect the introduction of contaminants during transportation
from the field to the laboratory. The
be
provided by Sequoia Analytical. They will e be It en toanks lthe
i ' field and accompany the collected groundwater samples to the
laboratory for analysis. The blanks will consist of de-
ionized.-_water.--and--_.analytically.-confirmed-organic-free-water. ------
----- The blank is numbered, packaged, and sealed in the same
manner as the other samples.
's
