MK L E I N F E L D E R a Description and documentation of QA/QC procedures employed for field and laboratory work, and ■ An assessment of the results with conclusions and recommendations for additional assessment or remediation if warranted CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES AND ASSUMPTIONS This proposal and the attached cost estimate are based on the following assumptions and responsibilities ■ The Learner Company will supply Kleinfelder with access to the site and written owner authorization for the proposed sampling ■ Adequate work space and access will be provided Kleinfelder will attempt to advance the Geoprobes and collect samples at the proposed locations If the sampling equipment cannot be positioned, alternative sampling locations or sampling methods should be investigated ■ The sampling will be conducted using a Geoprobe ng If difficult conditions are encountered, alternative sampling methods may be necessary ■ Soil and water generated during the sampling will be the responsibility of the client Soil • cuttings, decontamination nnseate and purge water will be contained in drums and left on site Sampling and analysis of the contained soil and water may be necessary prior to disposal Disposal or remediation options for the soil and water can be assessed once analytical results have been received Kleinfelder is prepared to assist the client and to remediate or dispose of stockpiled soil and water, if requested, at an additional cost ■ This proposal is based on the presumption that the client will clearly mark utilities and will provide any and all available survey maps or other data to determine the location of tanks, existing structures, underground utilities and services ■ Upon completion of the soil and groundwater sampling, the Geoprobe borings will be grouted the same day in accordance with PHS/EHD requirements ■ The client should be aware that penetrating the site's surface is inherently risky It is impossible to determine with certainty the precise location of all structures (such as septic system tanks, leach fields or irrigation lines) which may be buned in the ground Klelnfelder's fee is not adequate to compensate for both the performance of the services and the assumption of risk of damage to such structures ■ PHS/EHD will bill The Learner Company for any oversight fees incurred above the initial 3 hour minimum and permit feet to be submitted by Kleinfelder These fees will be billed directly to The Learner Company by the PHS/EHD Kleinfelder will forward the appropriate • "billing and compliance acknowledgement forms" to The Learner Company for signature Signed originals of these forms must be returned to Kleinfelder, which will subsequently 20-YPO-30700001`358/20000508 page A-4 Copynght 2000,Klemfelder Inc October 6,20000
